The Lamplighters of VeyNo. 5

The Lamplighters of Veyproduction board

5 sections, 1,240 words, about 5 minutes, revised 25 September

A 120-page graphic novel in five chapters of 24 pages. Chapter 1 is finished; chapter 2 is on the drawing board. The board is redrawn every Friday from what was finished that week.

Page 32 is a splash and the chapter’s last page, so it goes to pencils before 29–31 are finished. Finished pages are linked from the Vey pages folder on the drive, never stored here.

Sections

  1. 1Chapter 1: finished pages and where they are keptObservation, 24 links
  2. 2Chapter 2: what is on the boardObservation, key
  3. 3Chapter 3: script statusQuestion, 2 sources

and two more sections

A chapter’s script at a glance: a table of page, panel count and beat, with the full script in the sections after it.

Chapter 2 at a glance, pages 25–32

Observation, key section, 1 note, 290 words

The first eight pages of the chapter, from the script as it stands. Each page’s full script, panel by panel, is its own section after this one.

Page 30 is the chapter’s slowest page and it should be. Six small panels of keys that do not fit, so that 31 can run.

Oda’s page opens with a model-sheet card in words and the turnaround linked; a proposed note flags the page where the script moves her key ring.

Oda Brask, lamplighter of the Coopers’ ward

Evidence, key section, 1 note, 3 sources, 410 words

Why the left hip. She lights with her right hand; the pole is in it. The keys have to be where the free hand can reach them in the dark, which is what page 31 is about.

How she moves. Quick on stairs, slow on open ground. She never runs toward the fog until chapter 4.

How it works

Which hip Oda wears her key ring on. Whether the reveal falls after a page turn. Which pages are pencilled and which are still a line of script. Your assistant reads your script and lays out the bible, a model-sheet card per character, a table per chapter, and a kanban board of every page by stage.

  1. Lay out the shelf from your script

Give your assistant your world notes and the script so far, and ask for the bible as short rules, a Characters document, a script document per chapter and a production board.

  2. Give every character a model-sheet card

Ask for a card element per character: height, costume, the props they carry and on which side, and a link to the turnaround kept on your drive.

  3. Break each chapter down page by page

Ask for a table element at the head of each chapter: page, panel count and beat. Check that every reveal falls on an even page, after the turn.

  4. Watch the continuity, move the board

Ask it to read each chapter against the cards and leave a proposed note where a prop drifts. On Friday, tell it what you finished and it redraws the kanban board.

Your assistant, connected to know.sh (Claude, ChatGPT or a local model):

Using know.sh, read the page sections in *The Lamplighters of Vey — chapter 2, The unlit street* and add a table element to its first section: one row per page, with the columns Page, Panels and Beat. Count the panels from the script, write “splash” beside a one-panel page, and give each beat in one sentence. Then list every reveal that falls on an odd page. Change nothing else.

Your assistant, connected to know.sh (Claude, ChatGPT or a local model):

Using know.sh, read every page section in chapters 1 and 2 of The Lamplighters of Vey and list in *Continuity* each prop, costume detail and street name, with every page and panel it appears in. Leave a proposed note wherever the same thing is described two ways.
